The Real Winner of the Super Bowl? Dennys.com

The Real Winner of the Super Bowl? Dennys.com
This article is about the results traffic of viewer that responds to the super bowl ads in 2009. The winner of this year’s is Denny’s; which used its ads to offer free breakfast to everyone. There are 1,541 Denny’s restaurants all around the United States and they have served over 1,300 customers per location the day of promotion; more than five times the regular value. I think, Denny’s commercial is really simple compared to the other ads but they did a really good job at hitting the hotspot of most people that watched super bowl. Who doesn’t like a “free meal”, or in this case free breakfast.

This article caught my attention because I always keep up-to-date with commercials on television. As advertising major, I want to make commercials on television after I graduate and that’s why I have to learn from current media professional in making good and effective commercials.

Why we should care?

As the future media professional, we should aware about this event because it gives us a good point in advertising businesses about what Denny’s did in their advertising. Denny’s not only knows the hotspot that people like nowadays but also the most important thing is the catch of that ad. Denny’s paid 3 million dollar for their 30 second ad on the super bowl and hoping people that come to get free breakfast can spend their money on beverages for this break-even opportunity. This article is not only good for the future media professional but also for the current media professional because they need to improve their strategy in order to get better responses from their customer.

Finally, Generation Y is always ahead from others about the latest event, and I believe there are some groups of Generation Y that waited in line in front of Denny’s restaurant to get free breakfast. According to Denny's CEO Nelson Marchioli, “the most important from this event is that customers are reminded that the restaurant is a place for good food and value – and that they will come back and spend some money.”
