Generation Diva

The article “Are We Turning Our Tweens into ‘Generation Diva’?” written by Jessica Bennett is talking about obsession that some people have to meet the ideal beauty on young girls. In the "Toddlers & Tiaras,” the TLC reality series, those toddlers have to Use beauty products to compete in beauty pageants. And also it talks about other shows on television that builds the ideal beauty for women.

I have seen the commercial for “Toddlers & Tiaras” show and I think it’s ridiculous because their mother support them to use beauty products to get the beauty standards, even though almost all of those toddlers were just starting to grow up and learn how to read. As a mother, they have to be good example for her kids because most young kids look at her parents as their role models. Instead of focusing on how to meet the ideal beauty for pageants they should be focusing on living a healthy life.

However, it will change many toddlers’ mind about their ideal beauty standard and forced them to win the beauty pageants can make them feels insecure and unhappy about their body. Using beauty products in an early age can also lead to spending more money on beauty treatment in the feature. That’s why some people spend more than $300,000 on just their face and hair, so you can imagine how much money that those people spend on their whole body.

They never feel satisfied with what they have and want to get more and more. That’s why a lot of celebrities had plastic surgery, liposuction, etc to make them feel better about themselves and to set up a new beauty standard on the media.
